Learn about Spessartine Garnet

spessartite-garnet.jpgThis spicy orange-red variety of Garnet commonly has inclusions visible to the eye that are generally left untreated and become a part of the stone’s natural and unique beauty. For many years, Spessartine was considered an ultra-rare gem, but recent deposits found in Tanzania, China and Pakistan have put it “on the map” in the commercial world. Named after the Spessart Mountains in Bavaria, Germany, where it was first mined, Spessartine is also called “Garnet of the sun” and “Mandarin Garnet.”
